putty foaming
Phenomenon: bubbles are generated during the construction process and after a period of time, the surface of the putty is blistered.
cause:
1. The base is too rough, and the speed of stroking is too fast;
2. The putty layer in one construction is too thick, more than 2.0mm;
3. The moisture content of the base layer is too high, and the density is too large or too small. Due to the abundant voids and the high moisture content of the putty, it is airtight, and the air is enclosed in the void cavity, which is not easy to eliminate.
4. After a period of construction, the bursting and foaming on the surface is mainly caused by uneven stirring. The slurry contains powdery particles that are too late to dissolve. After construction, a large amount of water is absorbed, swelling and bursting.
Solution:
1. When there is a large area of ??blistering putty surface, use a spatula to directly break the small bubble mouth, and then use a suitable putty to scrape the blistered surface layer.
2. After the putty is stirred evenly, let it stand for about 10 minutes, and then stir it again with an electric mixer and then put it on the wall.
3. If bubbling occurs in the second or last surface layer of construction, a scraper should be used to remove the bubbles before the watermark is removed to ensure that no air bubbles appear on the putty surface.
4. For particularly rough walls, generally choose thick putty as the base material.
5. In the environment where the wall is too dry or the wind is strong and the light is strong, first wet the wall with clean water as much as possible, and then scrape the putty layer after the wall has no clear water.
Putty powder removal
Phenomenon: After the construction is completed and dry, the powder will fall off when you touch it with your hands.
cause:
1. If the polishing time of the interior wall putty powder is not well mastered, the powder will be removed after the surface has been dried and then polished;
2. For exterior wall putty powder, the coating is relatively thin when veneering. In summer, the water evaporates quickly, and the surface layer cannot have enough water to cure, so it is easy to remove powder.
3. When the product exceeds the shelf life, the bonding strength is greatly reduced.
4. Improper storage of the product will greatly reduce the adhesion after moisture absorption.
5. The high water absorption rate of the base layer causes the putty to dry quickly, and there is not enough water for curing.
Solution:
1. When polishing the inner wall putty surface layer, it is necessary to master the appropriate polishing time. The best time for polishing is to polish immediately after the watermark on the putty surface disappears. Practice has proved that the surface should be flattened or polished for 1~2 square meters.
2. After the surface of the exterior wall putty is dry, it should be moderately polished and adequately drenched in water for maintenance. Generally, the maintenance is divided into two or more times.
3. The product must be used within the shelf life. If it exceeds the shelf life, a test scraping must be carried out. After the inspection is qualified, the construction can be carried out again;
4. The product must pay attention to waterproof treatment, it should exist in a cool and dry place, and ensure that the package is intact.
5. In summer or under high temperature and strong wind conditions, it is best to wet the wall with clean water before applying putty. Putty can be applied after there is no clear water on the surface of the wall.
Putty falls off
Phenomenon: It refers to the poor bonding strength between the putty and the base layer, and it falls off directly from the base layer.
cause:
1. The old wall is very smooth (such as tempered putty, polyurethane and other oil-based paints), and the putty powder has poor adhesion to its surface.
2. The new wall is cast with a template, the surface is smooth and contains a lot of release agent (waste engine oil or silicone).
3. For wooden substrates, metal substrates and other non-mortar substrates (such as plywood, plywood, particleboard, solid wood, etc.), the putty is directly applied on the surface. The inner wall putty cannot be deformed with it, and it will generally fall off after 3 months.
4. When the putty exceeds the shelf life, the bond strength decreases.
Solution:
1. Remove the peeling layer and deal with it according to the following conditions;
2. Grind the old wall to increase the surface roughness, and then use the interface agent;
3. Use a degreasing cleaning agent to remove the release agent or other grease components on the surface, and then apply putty.
4. Use two-component or special plywood putty for construction.
5. Use within the shelf life of putty.
Putty delamination
Phenomenon: The two layers of putty or the putty and the substrate are peeled off each other.
cause:
1. The substrate contains a large amount of release agent (such as waste engine oil, wax emulsion);
2. The base is seriously powdered and the water absorption is too large.
3. The bottom layer of putty is seriously powdered, the bottom layer of putty is too hard, and it will fall off if it dries too fast.
4. The construction interval between the two layers of putty is too long, generally more than 15 days, and sometimes the decorative layer will also cause delamination.
5. After construction or during construction, the putty layer is infiltrated by rainwater or other infiltrating water, resulting in the loss of effective components of the putty, and it will also fall off.
6. The combination of two layers of putty is unreasonable.
Solution:
1. Remove the peeling layer and re-select the special putty for scraping;
2. Putty, especially interior wall putty, shorten the interval between two putty constructions as much as possible
3. Pay attention to the protection of the construction process. During the construction of the putty or within 8 hours after the construction, the putty should not be infiltrated by water;
putty cracking
Phenomenon: After the putty is applied for a period of time, the surface is cracked.
cause:
1. Construction is carried out before the base layer is completely dry, and the construction requires the moisture content of the base layer to be less than or equal to 10%
2. If the bottom layer of putty is not dry, it will be over the surface, the surface layer will be dried first, while the inner layer is still in the drying process, resulting in different degrees of drying shrinkage between layers, which is easy to crack.
3. When the base layer is treated, the repairing and leveling materials are not completely dry, and the inner wall putty with strong scraping hardness is applied on it, which is easy to cause cracking;
4. The construction is too thick, the internal drying is slow, the surface drying speed is fast, and it is easy to cause cracking.
Solution:
1. The cracked putty needs to be removed. If the crack is not too big, flexible putty can also be used for the first construction, and then the construction is carried out according to the standard construction method.
2. Each construction should not be too thick, and the time interval between two constructions must be more than 4 hours. After the previous putty is completely dry, the subsequent scraping can be carried out.
Putty turns yellow
Phenomenon: After the putty construction is completed, part or all of it will appear yellow soon.
cause:
It mainly occurs in the old indoor walls. The old wall putty uses a large amount of PVA glue. The glue ages and decomposes to produce unsaturated acid. The unsaturated acid reacts with the calcium ions in the putty to form the corresponding yellow calcium salt.
Solution:
1. Roll-coat twice with environmentally friendly glue, and then scrape the interior wall putty after it is completely dry;
2. Apply two coats of sealer primer, and then scrape the putty again after it is completely dry.
3. All use paste putty construction, or use plate putty construction.
